I am appalled by yet another barbaric attack on Yelwa Zangam village in Jos North LGA where people were killed and houses burnt and properties destroyed.
Having arrested 10 suspects in connection with the incident, I have mandated security forces to go after the perpetrators who appear to have carefully planned the attack and destroyed the bridge linking the village to carry out the attack.
Those who have carried out attacks on any part of Plateau State will be fished out and punished no matter how long it takes.
Kindly discountenance wrong narratives attributed to me as being against bail for suspects arrested.
I am calling for unity against criminals.
Today I visited the President to brief him on the security situation in Plateau State and seek the intervention of the Federal Government in areas of security reinforcement to consolidate on the normalcy that has returned and also forestall future attacks on innocent people. I also asked for assistance in rehabilitation of IDPs and reconstruction of properties destroyed.

From the reports, we are making progress in restoring calm and denying criminals the luxury of taking advantage of the situation to cause chaos.
I call on our citizens to cooperate and support us in resolving this challenge.
I have declared a 24-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government from 2pm of today, Sunday 15th August 2021. This is necessitated by security reports which indicate rising threats to the safety of lives and properties within the Local Government.
In order to avoid further deterioration of the situation and to protect lives and properties of citizens, I have directed the imposition of curfew on Jos North, Bassa and Jos South Local Governments commencing 6pm to 6am from today, 14th August 2021.
I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate attack on commuters along Rukuba Road today which led to loss of lives and injuries. I condemn in totality this unfortunate situation and urge security agencies to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Government will not allow criminals to take the State back to dark days of violence.
